For telehelath sessions, we can work with any client who resides in the state of Michigan. You must be considered a resident of the state and be present in the State of Michigan at the time of session. Feel free to contact us if you are unsure if you meet this criteria based on frequent travel or attending school out of state.

Currently we accept Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Blue Care Network, United Healthcare, Priority Health, McLaren Medicaid, and Blue Cross Complete Medicaid. If your insurance plan is not listed, we do have a sliding scale fee. We can provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance to request reimbursement.

Think of your first session as an administrative and conversational "get to know you" step. There is no pressure to dive into your deepest wounds right away.
During this first session, we will:
Review the logistics: We’ll briefly go over your intake paperwork, confidentiality, and any initial questions you might have about how therapy works.
Listen to your story: Your therapist will invite you to share what brought you to therapy, what your current day-to-day looks like, and what challenges you are currently facing.
Discuss your goals: We’ll talk about what you hope to get out of our time together, whether that's finding practical tools for daily stress, processing a past experience, or just having a space to figure things out.
Most importantly, this session is a chance for you to see how it feels to talk with your therapist. If it feels like a comfortable fit, we will map out a collaborative plan for your next steps together.

Because every person, history, and challenge is unique, there is no one-size-fits-all timeline for therapy. Some clients find that a few months of short-term, solution-focused therapy gives them the tools they need to navigate a specific life transition. Others choose to stay in therapy long-term to process deeper developmental trauma, old patterns, or to maintain a consistent space for mental health check-ins.
You are entirely in the driver’s seat of your own healing. We will check in regularly about your progress, and together we will decide when it feels right to taper down or bring our sessions to a close.

At Rise and Renew Counseling Services, we are deeply committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining the confidentiality of all information shared during therapy sessions. Your personal information and the content of our conversations will never be disclosed to anyone without your explicit, written consent, except in circumstances where there is a legal obligation to do so.
There are certain situations where confidentiality may be broken, including:
Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police.
If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.
We strive to create a safe, trusting space where you can speak openly and work toward your goals. If you have any questions or concerns about confidentiality, please do not hesitate to discuss them with us.
